Chan and San

Chan: refers to a younger person; usually family members use this word only [1].

San: approx. equivalent of Mr. or Ms.

Interestingly enough, Chan my be a insult to some teenagers–who may like Japan and the Japanese culture, but who want to be recognized as being a lot older in their own culture or local area, and hold different values that may not necessarily include the idea of Kawaii. Thus San is a safe bet to try first if unsure–in most cases should you be unsure of the local customs or what the values of the person has on the internet.

Thank you for your comment Tidal Power. I would also like to point out that I think alternative energy is a important part of our lives as well.
